Did you know???
The Blue Ridge Theatre program is phenomenal.  Here is some information about the program led by our fantastic theatre director, Stacey Raymer.

HIGH SCHOOL:
For the past five years, the BRHS One Act Play has advanced four out of the five years with notable finishes last year, Area Qualifier, and in 2014, Region Qualifier, one of the top 24 plays in the State.  Here is a link to our High School show last year, THE HOUSE OF BERNARDA ALBA, District 13-2A Champions.

MIDDLE SCHOOL:
The One Act Play program began in 2012.  Since then we've finished with four first-place finishes and one second place.  We've had multiple award winners.

Last year the company finished first with Radium Girls.  Click HERE for a link to our Theatre Weebly website with show photos.

Check out the Plans for 2016-2017:
  • Three Middle School shows:  OAP, Pantomime/Clown show, Spring Showcase
  • High School:  Four show season, murder-mystery, Christmas show, OAP, Spring Showcase/Talent Show.

Thank you Stacey Raymer for your hard work in building a first class theatre program for our students and for the Blue Ridge community.

Texas Public Feedback on Assessment and Accountability Systems
This past week, the SBOE (State Board of Education) released survey results on STAAR and Accountability.   More than 27,000 Texans completed the survey that the SBOE conducted in June seeking public input about the state’s student assessment and accountability systems. The intent of the survey was to gather information that will become part of a report to legislative leaders and to the Texas Commission on Next-Generation Assessments and Accountability.

A report called Texans Speak: Public Feedback on Assessment and Accountability Systems summarizes the comments received from the survey and from a series of community meetings held across the state. To provide easier reading, this survey report collapses the responses into three categories: Agree, Neutral, Disagree.  I highly encourage you to see what Texas feel about testing and accountability in its current state.  This link will take you to a website that documents the community conversations about Assessment and Accountability.
